GIGGLE BUG

Gus caught the giggle bug at 4 am this morning. It's hard to be grouchy in the middle of the night when you've got this beautiful face blowing bubbles at you.

IN THE GARDEN

A.P. sits with his Momma while I work in the garden. Almost all of the plants from last week's sale are in the soil now, and all kinds of seeds are sprouting, too!
Of course, Gus needs to be shaded from the sunbeams pouring down.
But he doesn't mind it under the umbrella. In fact, he has a pretty good time with Momma in the garden.

IT'S ALL HAPPENING AT THE ZOO

Yesterday August Paul had his first trip to the Como Zoo. I think its a place he will like as he gets bigger. He's too small now.
His poppa doesn't photograph too well.
Momma admires the Como Conservatory's majestic fig tree.

DOCTOR VISIT

Just under 12 pounds, his head is 15 and a half inches around, and I can't find the paperwork from yesterday so I have to guess, but I think his height was around 23 and a half inches.
He did a great job for the nurse and doctor, and he was quiet and thoughtful the whole time. Can you believe he's almost two months old?

edited to add: Here are the real stats: 11.5 inches height, 11 lbs 8 oz weight, and head circumference is 15.75 inches.

NEW FRIENDS

We visited Mandi and Travis to see their comfy new house in St Paul. Apparently, Mandi is our most faithful reader - Hi Mandi!

Mandi and Travis rushed out to get a dog as soon as they had a house to keep it in - Derby is a sweet, gentle black lab. I wish I had thought to take a picture of her. Irene couldn't meet her yet, but I think they'll be fast friends.

In their backyard Mandi and Travis inherited some fantastic rose bushes. No pictures of those, either. Congratulations to the new homeowners!

A GRAND SHOW

It was accidentally discovered that August likes watching the dog eat, and while I probably shouldn't put the baby on the floor with the dog, who am I to deny him such entertainment?

BLACK & WHITES

Cousin Jenna took these photos of baby Gus last week while we were driving around town.
I would never think to photograph him in his car seat, but she captured something in his face that isn't in any of the other photos.
Dave and I had been debating last week which photos of August we'd like to blow up and frame for our wall. When I took this one out of the envelope, it took my breath away.
I love these photos, and I think we should frame them all.
Thanks, Jenna.

FAMBLY

COUSINS PART II

"I wonder what's in store for today..."
"A visit to Nana's house? Yeah, and I'll wear my super-sweet, striped baby suit."
"And any good day starts with breakfast at Al's... maybe my cousins will come along!"

Andy maybe you, dear reader, will notice the high quality of today's photographs. That's because they were taken by Cousins Jenna and Kristen during their visit last week - thanks to Jenna for sending us all the beautiful pictures and for the great time we all had together.

Even the dog had a good time, in her own way.

Jenna takes very nice pictures - these last two must have been taken while we showed them the city before they left.

FEVER

Gusmonster is not feeling well today. he has a low fever and a stuffy nose, he wails every time I put him down, and he's nursing every hour and a half. We're doing a lot of this today:

Luckily, he's still small enough that he can sleep on me and I can still reach the computer on my lap. We hope to be feeling better soon!
