NOVA
So sorry there haven't been many posts. Home internet is still down, but we'll try to get more photos up soon!
IT'S A GIRL!
She's here! Nova Kathryn was born June 28 just after 1:00. She was born at home, as planned.
Baby and Mama are well and happy, resting together today.
And Gus is thrilled to be a big brother -- he loves touching her, and saying "baby". When I first brought him upstairs to see her, he was beaming. This picture is from that first meeting.
Thanks to Uncle Andy and Nikki for taking Gus during the day, and to our wonderful midwives Gail and Clare, and Mandi and Lawrence and Jill, who all helped out yesterday -- and to everyone for their prayers and thoughts over these past couple weeks.
More pictures soon!

PEACHES
Gus has given up on most vegetables, but he still likes almost all fruits. Now that it's summer, he gets all his favorites fresh from the produce section.

NOT QUITE HIMSELF
The heat plus teething plus a tummy ache means Gus isn't quite himself today. He's taking it easy with extra naps, hoping to feel better very soon.

WONDER BLOCKS
Dave found these at the thrift store last week.
I've wanted wonder blocks for Gus since before he was born, they were one of my favorite toys when I was little.
I was honestly way more excited about them than he was, he just liked dumping them out of the box.
Maybe someday they'll interest him. In the meantime, it's play time for me!

GUS AT THE POOL
Gus and I have been going to the neighborhood pool during these hot, hot days.
He was a little cautious at first, but it's so shallow that he can walk all the way across, so now he spends his time splashing and finding little twigs and leaves to throw in.
Tomorrow, I have to remember to bring some buckets and things for him to play with (he took another little boy's toys today, which didn't really go over well). We're lucky to have such a fun pool just a few blocks away!

TWO THINGS
One little monster:
And one mobile, for the second little monster:
I just finished this, so if that's what the baby is waiting for, he or she can no longer use it as an excuse. Whenever you're ready, little one...

BANK OPENING
I took Gus to the grand opening for Woodlands Bank on Franklin Avenue. They're the awesome bank that helped us buy the shop. There was a guy singing Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash songs, and lots of food, and people to see.
Gus saw a bear.
And he fell asleep in the bike seat on the way home!
