Last week while Sean & Kristen were helping us move the record store, and Sean used his snazzy new camera to take these shots of Gus. Pretty great, don't you think?

MORE KNITTING: TOPAZ!

I made a little dress and matching bloomers for Nova. The pattern is Topaz,


and the bloomers are another version of the picky pants pattern that I love so much.


The yarn is Crystal Palace Merino 5, 100% Superwash Merino. It's stretchy, soft, comfy, and washable. Couldn't ask for anything more!


I was going to do the contrast in purple, but Gus was at the yarn store with me and he really liked the dark blue. I think it turned out okay, and Nova doesn't seem to mind.


Unfortunately, dressing her in blue leads people to ask "how old is your little boy?" What can I say? We aren't all born with fantastic hair. (I'm not teasing - I love that photo of cousin John & Madeline.)


I think this is a cute pattern and the dress is long enough that it'll grow with her. The bloomers are cute by themselves, too, so it's a win win.


In other news: where did baby Nova go? Who's this big girl standing up, playing with toys, and drinking out of a cup? I hardly recognize her!

Cooking breakfast, I glanced over my shoulder to see Gus. He was quietly coloring:


Then I peeked my head into the living room to see why it was so quiet. Nova was unfolding the diapers for us:


I love mornings when we can cook up a big breakfast while the kids play quietly! It reminds me that someday they'll do this all the time! Right?

ZOO TRIP

I braved the Minnesota Zoo with both kids today, and it was totally worth it. The stroller was unfortunately still wet from our recent rain storm, so we went without. My monsters were wonderful. Here's two of my favorite pictures:


They loved the reef. The relationship between Gus & Nova has totally bloomed in the last month. While he still whomps her from time to time, more often he's knocking her over with a hug. She adores him right back, and I love how gentle Gus can be with her - asking if she's okay, telling her she's pretty, or in this case - not to be afraid of the fish and sharks. The irony of course was that she was banging on the glass with glee, and he was backing away, grabbing my hand when a shark would swim near.


It was a cloudy day, so we had stretches of the zoo to ourselves. We haven't tried a hike or a camping trip with both kids, but letting Gus run ahead down the path today gave me a glimpse of how much fun we're going to have in the future. I know I sound like a broken record (ha!) but he's getting so big!

STAR TRIBUNE!

There was an article about us in the Star Tribune today. Gus is blurry because he wouldn't sit still, though he was terribly charming. This is possibly the first photo of the 4 of us. Not bad!

We're moving the record shop, and the kids are "helping" a lot. Gus helps with the paint, Nova helps by pulling things off shelves. At least they're happy!

Now that Nova is crawling, I open up the cupboards for her to empty. Gus always has to get in on it, though, and now he builds towers from tupperware.

PICKY PANTS

This is one of my favorite things to knit for the kids. I love this pattern so much I've made it at least 10 times. It's picky pants from Little Turtle Knits.


There were plenty of hand-me-down's from Gus, but Nova needed a pair all for herself. Love these pants!
