VIRGINIA REPRISE: SLURPEE

We forgot to post this one after Kris sent her photos to us. Gus had his first Slurpee in Virginia. He liked it a lot.

MOVING
Today, for the first time, August realized that there's nothing keeping him in the same room as me. He made it this far down the hallway

before he turned around to check on how far he'd gone.

before he turned around to check on how far he'd gone.

but he's really on the move.

SIX MONTHS
Look, he's sitting up!
Okay, you caught me. These were snapped in between him toppling over. Is it me, or is he extra cute this morning?

And also, for the sake of posterity:

RECIPE FOR STORYTIME
Take one baby, add baby store time at the library:

Mix well with 15 other kids, books, toys, and songs:

In no time at all, your baby (who normally doesn't take a midday nap) will crash completely. Your result should look something like this:

RAINY DAY ADVENTURE
August and I had a rainy day adventure yesterday. We got all suited up in hats and long sleeves (it was raining out) and we walked down to the light rail train.

Gus got his own seat on the train, and he charmed the people sitting next to him, who were visiting from Kansas City for a baseball game.

He showed them where the Metrodome was, and told them how to find their gate.

Then he and I rode through downtown Minneapolis,

past the government center,

And got off the train in the warehouse district.
The buildings downtown are very tall.

It was raining, so we stayed inside the bus stop.
We caught the number 4,

And rode the bus up to my office, where Gus was a big help.
(He especially likes the board table.)

After I finished working, we got all dressed up to go again.

And waited for the number 4 for a second time.

Here comes the bus, Gus!

He was wide awake for a little while, entertaining the other bus riders,

but soon he fell fast asleep.

He missed the library,

the big buildings,

the second train,

and Nicollet Mall.

He woke up just in time to get off at our station.

We stopped at the big grocery store on our walk home.

Li'l Gus tried to talk me into buying some special treats,

But in the end we just bought the cheese that we had come for.

Yay, home! What a fun day!
