HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Gus got a turkey crown.

An he learned how to play a new instrument.

And he and Nana started decorating for Christmas. Gus helped with the cresh.

Everyone was pretty tired after dinner,

and Gus finished the day by working on his entry into the turkey coloring contest for the Star Tribune. We think he's going to win the 4 and under set, don't you?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Seems like just yesterday, doesn't it?

BONFIRE

Last night was probably one of the last warm nights of 2009. We had a fire in the backyard to commemorate it.

Nova helped by falling asleep watching the fire.

Gus helped by continually emptying the watering can that we keep for safety.

HAIRCUT

Gus was looking a little shaggy this week:

So we trimmed his hair (not much, I promise)

It's hard to get my little guy to sit still for anything, let alone something fun that involves scissors. Needless to say, this is not a very straight haircut. It's a slight improvement, though. You can't have everything!

GIGGLES

Nova giggles, and it's pretty cute. (this may be sort of boring if you're not related to these monsters....)

SCIENCE MUSEUM

If you've spent any time with Gus recently, you know that one of his core interests right now is DINOSAURS!

Even though Stephen Spielberg has given us real live dinos on the big screen, we thought we'd take Gus to the Science Museum this weekend to show him how us ol' folks used to have to use our imaginations when we wanted to see dinosaurs.

He was pretty impressed, to say the least.

The museum has lots of other fun exhibits too, like this one where you make shadows.

And this one, with a scary little creature (on the left!).

Gus helped harvest some brussels sprouts last night.

THEN & NOW

Last week we visited Minnehaha Falls. It was a beautiful fall day and the kids had fun seeing the falls, the creek, and people & dog watching. We make a point to visit the falls each year, though the last few times we've cut our visit short instead of walking down into the park.

Here we are 7 years ago, the first time we visited the park together:

(I'd say we look pretty much the same, wouldn't you?)

WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES

Or boots, as the season would have it.

MOTLEY CREW

Motley crew: (definition) An assorted and ill-disciplined group of ne'er do wells. Wouldn't you say that describes giraffe, moose, dinosaur, and cookie monster?

UNDER THE WEATHER

Everyone here at the two little monster household is feeling rather ill. It's naptime for all.

(to the troll who stopped by yesterday to leave a comment that my baby is cross eyed: your nasty comments will be deleted. Yes, I know this blog is public, but we put up photos for the grammas, grampas, aunts, uncles & friends who don't see the kids enough, not for random strangers to drop by with their vitriol. harumph.)

COLORS

He's not so into the coloring, but he certainly likes to dump the crayons out and put them back into the box.
She just likes to watch.

NO SMILING

My attempts to get photos of the kids smiling have failed. At least they're cute anyway!
